Detailed Itinerary

Upon arrival, delight in the two session activities in Ngamba island. The first session starts at exactly 7:00 am as the second starts at 11:00am. Our company representative meets you at your hotel of residence early in the morning and transfers you to the boat point where you cruise for over 45 minutes to arrive at Ngamba Island. As you are on the boat cruise, you enjoy glimpse of a variety of dotted islands on Lake Victoria, the colorful birds, as well as fishermen and many eye catching natural beauty on the lake.

Landing at the island

Enjoy a very beautiful clear surrounding upon your arrival and get an opportunity to view some monitor lizards that welcome you on the shores of the lake. You also meet some bird species which include; sacred ibis, Egyptian goose, black headed weavers, yellow bellied duck, king fishers and so much more.

Later on, take a drive to the visitors’ Centre for a brief warm welcome to Ngamba Island and a simple briefing about the available activities to enjoy on your safari.

Breakfast and feeding the chimpanzees

First of all, enjoy an appetizing cup of coffee, after that you join a guided walk with the management and engage in taking care and feeding the chimpanzees. In doing this, u get a chance to watch the orphan chimpanzees having fun, feeding and learn more about the way they behave in the sanctuary.

After some time, take a guided walk around the different Centers of the island like the food stores. The chimpanzee care taker gives you some engrossing facts about numerous food types that chimpanzees feed on, how the management is able to keep their food very safe and a good condition. Importantly, chimpanzees feed on fresh vegetables and fruits namely; carrots, apples, watermelons, cassava and many more because the jungle does not have enough of them to cater for all the members of the sanctuary.

One of the enjoyable activities on this island for most tourists is preparing food for these primates so in the afternoon, grab an opportunity to engage in this wonderful activity.

Boat cruise transfer ride to the mainland as well as swimming at the Equator.

Raise up early for breakfast and prepare for a cruise transfer back to the mainland at 7:00am. While cruising back, enjoy a short stopover at the equator where you are going to experience antagonistic forces of the north and the South Pole pushing the boat but after crossing the equator line, the ride becomes steady again. On reaching, you are free to enjoy swimming and later on you be taken back to your residence or at the airport.
